Description:

Description for B&B:

Experience the enchantment of a 17th-century farm-house nestled in the untouched beauty of the Girona Pyrenees. This hidden gem is a hiker's and mountain biker's dream, surrounded by pristine woods and complete silence for miles. At night, the only lights you'll see are the moon and the stars, creating a magical atmosphere. Perched on a mountain pass, the house offers breathtaking views of two valleys and basks in over 300 days of glorious sunshine each year.

We offer two guest rooms on the first floor of our beautifully restored home, where we also reside, as well as a separate apartment on the ground floor. The larger room boasts a private bathroom and is furnished with a double bed and a double futon sofa-bed. The second room features two single beds. Our guests also have access to a charming dining room with a wood-burning stove.

The apartment is a spacious haven, with high vaulted ceilings, an open American kitchen, a cozy fireplace, a large dining table, and a comfortable living area with a sofa-bed. It includes a serene bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunk beds, as well as a generous bathroom. Outside, a delightful garden terrace nestled under stone vaults awaits you, complete with a barbecue for savoring delicious meals.

Our house is designed to be self-sufficient, utilizing a central fireplace for heating and solar panels for electricity. We take pride in crafting our own bread, pasta, game sausages, marmalades, and jams from the bountiful fruit trees, wild berries, and nuts on our property. Additionally, we cultivate our own organic vegetables and raise chickens and ducks. To enhance your culinary experience, we offer half-board and full-board services, utilizing our organic products as well as those sourced from local farmers.

Situated in a privileged middle-mountain area, ranging from 600 to 1,500 meters above sea level, our location provides a panoramic view of the radiant Empordà plain stretching towards the sea. Welcome to Alta Garrotxa, a rugged and secluded middle-mountain region that captivates with its diverse landscape. On the sunny slopes, you'll find Mediterranean dry forests filled with holly oaks, oaks, and pine trees, while the shady areas boast lush vegetation including chestnut trees, beeches, and black poplars. Deep ravines with babbling mountain streams, gorges, cascades, alpine meadows, and sheer rock walls add to the allure. Despite its historical sparsely populated nature, this region is dotted with scattered farmhouses and Romanesque chapels perched on seemingly impossible spots. Here, encounters with deer, wild pigs, hares, and foxes are more common than running into another human being. The air is filled with the melodious songs of various bird species. The absence of electricity, telephone cables, and asphalt covering the 32,865-hectare region creates a true escape into nature. This is the perfect place to let go of daily worries, immerse yourself in the enchanting shade of the chestnut forest, and relax on a hammock under a majestic oak tree.

Just 15 minutes from our house lies the river Muga, which runs along the French-Catalan border and offers natural pools of crystal-clear icy water for a heavenly summer dip. Autumn invites you to hunt for mushrooms, chestnuts, figs, and blackberries, while spring reveals wild strawberries, cherries, asparagus, and even more mushrooms. In winter, you can enjoy a snow-dusted landscape under a clear blue sky without the biting cold of higher altitudes.

For those seeking adventure, we offer guided hiking and horseback tours to discover the region's best views. The rugged terrain, diverse landscapes, and over 40 Romanesque chapels from the 10th to 12th centuries make this area historically significant and visually captivating. Mountain biking enthusiasts will also find several marked routes to satisfy their passion.

Come and experience the magic of our 17th-century farm-house retreat in the breathtaking Girona Pyrenees. Be transported to a world where nature reigns supreme, and tranquility is found in every corner.

Appréciations pour ClardeBosc, Albanyà:

Can coll
Review by: Claire, Nov 6 2012 3:52PM
