Description for Gite

Nestled in the serene countryside of the Perigord Noir, Le Petit Chambon is conveniently located between the tranquil village of Gabillou and the charming hamlet of Pauliac. This delightful gite offers an ideal base for exploring the numerous attractions of the Dordogne region, including renowned destinations such as Hautefort, Sarlat, and the magnificent Lascaux caves.

Recently refurbished just two years ago, Le Petit Chambon boasts a cozy lounge area with a wood burner and a fully equipped "cuisine americane" complete with a large electric oven, gas hob, coffee maker, kettle, and toaster. Should you wish to indulge your culinary skills, we are more than happy to provide additional equipment, herbs, and spices. Alternatively, if you prefer to unwind and dine out, you can easily visit one of the local restaurants just a short drive away.

The spacious bedroom overlooks the charming courtyard and can be arranged with either a double bed and an additional single or three single beds, perfect for those traveling with friends. The gite features a generous "wet room" style shower and toilet, as well as a separate toilet and basin. For your convenience, a laundry room with a washing machine is available. Bedlinen and towels are provided and changed on a weekly basis.

Embrace relaxation by lounging around the pool or immerse yourself in a captivating book while seated at the picturesque blue table and chairs in the courtyard. Off-road parking is available for your convenience.

When renovating this gite, we had the comfort of disabled guests in mind. Please do not hesitate to inquire about the facilities when making your reservation.

Directions

To easily reach Les Chambons by car, there are two routes you can take. If you are coming from the N89 at Thenon, simply drive towards Sainte-Orse for about 7km. You will pass under the railway and motorway bridges, and then you will see a sign for Sainte-Orse (6km). Follow this road until you reach Sainte-Orse, a small village. Along the way, you will also see signs for Gabillou, but we recommend taking this route once you have visited us for the first time. Once you are in Sainte-Orse, follow the signs for Gabillou. Drive through the village, go down a hill, and then turn left towards Gabillou. Continue on this road, D70, for approximately 4km. Make sure not to turn left up the hill to Gabillou. We are located just past the tiny locality of Vaudres and below the actual village of Gabillou. Follow the previous directions as mentioned above.

If you prefer to take the D704 from Limoges, take the Sainte-Orse signpost about 10 minutes past Saint Agnan (by Hautefort). Follow the signs for Sainte-Orse for another 10 minutes until you reach the center of Sainte-Orse, which is quite small. At a small crossroads, you will see Hotel de France on the left and the Marie on the right. Turn right and go down a hill. At the bottom of the hill, take the left turn signposted Gabillou. Stay on this road for 4km, making sure not to turn left towards Gabillou. Just after passing the Gabillou turning, you will spot a charming stone cottage called Le Chambon, which is our neighbor. Les Chambons, the big house, is located on the left shortly after. Drive past the side of the house and turn sharply right (proceed slowly!) through the large iron gates into the courtyard. You may need to perform a two-point turn to accomplish this.
