Description for B&B:

Welcome to the Cotentin! We invite you to experience the warm and welcoming atmosphere of our old farmhouse, which was once a bustling agricultural hub until the 1980s. Although we have incorporated modern comforts, we have diligently preserved the authenticity and charm of the original structure during its restoration.

With our deep passion for the region, we are delighted to share with you the remarkable sites that the Cotentin has to offer. Whether it be the stunning coastline, lush marshlands, or serene groves, we can provide insider knowledge and recommendations. We also have extensive knowledge of the local history, particularly events related to the significant World War II sites in the area. Martine is fluent in both English and German, ensuring clear communication for all our guests.

We have two spacious rooms available, both equipped with Wi-Fi. The first room boasts a picturesque garden view and can accommodate two or three people, featuring a comfortable 160 cm bed and an additional 90 cm bed. If needed, we can also provide an extra bed. Just two meters away from the bedroom, you will find a private bathroom with a toilet. The second room is a family suite designed for four people, which can also be booked for two. It consists of a lovely double room with a 160 cm bed and an en-suite bathroom with a toilet. Additionally, there is a smaller children's room with two 90 cm beds.

Start your day with a delightful breakfast served on the ground floor in our charming dining room, complete with an old fireplace. We offer a variety of options such as fruit juices, coffee, tea, or chocolate milk. Indulge in freshly baked bread and pastries accompanied by our homemade jams, dairy products, and a selection of fruits or cereals.

For your relaxation, the first floor features a mezzanine area that can be used as a cozy lounge space, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, or herbal tea at your leisure.

Our farmhouse is surrounded by a lovely garden, and we have provided garden furniture at both the front and back of the house, allowing you to soak up the outdoors. From mid-morning until evening, you can bask in the sun and spend pleasant moments in our tranquil garden. For families, we have a playset available for children to enjoy under the supervision of their parents.

Furthermore, we offer baby equipment such as a cot, baby bath, and high chair upon request, ensuring a comfortable stay for families. Ironing equipment is also available upon request.

We look forward to welcoming you to our cozy farmhouse in the Cotentin and providing you with an unforgettable and authentic experience.

Appréciations pour Les Grandes Portes, Flottemanville:

A delightful stay
Review by: Scott LeCraw, Juin 19 2019 3:10PM
Our party of five had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Les Grandes Portes, a B&B owned and operated by Martine and Serge. The house is very nicely located for a visit to the beaches of D-Day, being 15 minutes from Sainte-Mère Église and 20 minutes from the landing beaches.

They have two rooms, one of which is actually a suite with a small bed room attached. That worked very well for us as our group of five was actually two families. My wife and I took the Azurine room, which has a queen bed and a single. Her sister took the Viaelis room, which has a double bed and then two singles in the attached room, all of which worked very well for her and her two older children.

Martine is fluent in English, which was good since only two of our party had any French at all. We found her and Serge to be a lot of fun to be with and to be very attentive to our needs. They had a very nice continental breakfast laid out for us every morning, including one morning when we were headed to a special event and asked for breakfast at 4:30 AM!

While I don't know if another trip to Normandy is in my future, if it is, I will be staying at Les Grandes Portes!
