Description for B&B:

The Manoir de Malagorse is located in the picturesque countryside of Lot, just outside the charming village of Rignac. The nearby medieval village of Martel, only a 10-minute drive away, offers a delightful selection of restaurants and shops. The Manoir's prime location allows for easy exploration of both the Dordogne Valley, with its attractions such as Sarlat, Domme, and Chateau de Beynac, as well as the historic sites of the Lot, including Rocamadour, Gouffre de Padirac, and Carennac.

The Manoir itself is bathed in natural light and adorned with unique furniture and objects discovered by Anna and Abel at local Brocante markets. The kitchen serves as the heart of the house, featuring a handmade, immense cooking range and a large farmhouse table for hosting unforgettable indoor dining experiences during inclement weather. Breakfast at the Manoir is a sumptuous affair, offering fresh juice, fruit, homemade yogurts and musli, freshly baked croissants and brioche, homemade jams, and aromatic coffees and teas. Dinner, served outside in the courtyard when weather permits, is a four-course meal meticulously prepared by Anna and Abel. Anna takes pride in setting a delightful table with crisp antique linen, fresh flowers, and plenty of candles. Abel favors fresh produce and light, aromatic flavors with a touch of Provence. The Manoir offers an extensive wine selection to complement each meal, with interesting regional wines carefully chosen.

Vegetarian menus are available, and children can enjoy an earlier tea if desired (chicken nuggets excluded unless specifically requested!). The living room provides a perfect space for relaxation, featuring leather armchairs and a selection of interesting coffee books.

The Manoir offers five individually designed bedrooms, each thoughtfully decorated with sumptuous French fabrics and locally sourced furnishings. The rooms vary in size and character but all provide the comforts of home, including fresh garden flowers, crisp white bedlinen, fluffy bathrobes, and delightful toiletries from Coté Bastide.

One of the rooms, Chambre Bleuet, is exceptionally spacious with a double bed and dramatic high ceilings adorned with wooden beams. The decor features muted linens with touches of French blue and soft drapes. Chambre Jonquille, a beautifully proportioned twin-bedded room, can also be converted into a double. This room exudes atmosphere with its intricate beamed ceiling and wrought-iron day bed, enhanced by soft, pale yellow and taupe furnishings. Chambre Coquilicot is an exceptionally large, light, and spacious double bedroom on the first floor, complete with an adjoining dressing room equipped with a single bed suitable for families. The room features a cozy fireplace, a writing desk, and a warm atmosphere with chestnut floors and touches of red. Chambre Violette, a double bedroom on the first floor of the main house, is flooded with light and offers a peaceful and relaxing ambiance with its soft, muted greys and violets. The ensuite bathroom includes an integrated shower and bath, and the room also boasts a sofa and fireplace.

In addition to the main house, there is also the Four à Pain (The Bakery), an independent building with original features, including a large vaulted oven. The floor is adorned with antique terracotta tiles, and guests can admire the oak beamed roof structure from the comfort of their beds.

The Manoir is surrounded by 3 hectares of serene countryside, offering breathtaking views. The swimming pool, located in a spacious meadow, is surrounded by comfortable teak sunbeds. An elevated terrace with relaxed teak furniture provides a perfect spot for afternoon tea or a pre-dinner aperitif.

For sports enthusiasts, there is a plethora of activities available nearby. Canoeing down the Dordogne River, taking in historic sites and scenic surroundings, is a popular choice. Anna and Abel can even provide a gastronomic picnic along the way. The region is rich in historical sites and natural beauty, with popular attractions including Chateau Castelnaud, Beynac, and the prehistoric caves Les Grottes de Cazelle and Gouffre de Padirac. The medieval towns of Sarlat and Domme can be explored on a scenic route around the Dordogne Valley, passing the impressive Chateau de Montfort. The famous cliffside village of Rocamadour is also a must-visit. Off the beaten path, the villages of Carennac, Floriac, and Creysse offer delightful experiences. Garden enthusiasts can explore a variety of stunning gardens, such as Les Jardins du Manoir d'Eyrignac, Les Jardins du Chateau de Marqueyssac, Les Jardins de L'Imaginaire Terrasson, and Les Jardins du Chateau de Hautefort. Wine lovers can seek advice from Abel regarding vineyards to visit in Cahor, or he can even arrange a private tour. For children, the animal park at Gramat and the prehistoric park in Rocamadour are popular attractions.

Inés and Louis, the hosts' children, have tested and approved many of these activities and are always available to offer advice on what to do. The Manoir prides itself on providing excellent guidance and assistance to ensure guests make the most of their stay in the region.

Directions

To reach the autoroute (A20), pass through Souillac. At the first roundabout, continue onto D820 towards Cressensac. The road will ascend a hill and transition into a dual carriageway. Once on the dual carriageway, take the first right indicated by the sign for D103 Eglise de Rignac. Proceed over the autoroute and up a hill, where the road will narrow into a small country lane. As you approach Rignac, you will pass a walled cemetery on your left, and the church will be directly ahead. Just before reaching the church, and after a stone cross on the right, there will be a right turn marked with a sign for 'Manoir de Malagorse'. Take this road, and we are located 1km further ahead.
