The Castle River was constructed in 1577 by Gaston de l'Isle on the remains of a defensive high camp established by Charlemagne. Renowned architect Viollet le Duc rebuilt the castle in the 19th century. Situated atop a hill, the castle offers breathtaking views of the picturesque Dordogne valley and its extensive 59-hectare vineyard. Nestled within the Renaissance wing, the castle boasts five exquisitely designed guest rooms, each equipped with a private bathroom and toilet. These tastefully furnished rooms exude charm and refinement, providing guests with an inviting and relaxing retreat. Directions

To reach the Chateau, start by taking the A10 Bordeaux highway from Paris. When you reach exit 39 A in St Andre de Cubzac, take it. If you are coming from Bordeaux, head towards the A10 motorway in the direction of Paris. Once you reach exit 40 B, take it. From there, follow the signs for De Libourne, Fronsac, and St Andre de Cubzac. The Chateau is situated about 6 kilometers ahead on the right side of the road, just after the River roundabout.
