Description for B&B:

"The true paradises are the paradises that we have lost." This quote by M. Proust highlights the notion that one cannot fully appreciate the beauty of a place without experiencing it firsthand. After staying at home for so long, it becomes difficult to express oneself in the same way as Proust.

Dating back to the 18th century, the country villa "Il Palazzotto" was once a farm in an Etruscan village nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of the Sienese hills. This region is known for its abundance of cypress trees, castles, farms, olive groves, and vineyards. Conveniently located just 30 km from Siena, "Il Palazzotto" offers easy access to all the magnificent destinations in Tuscany. The famous Brunello di Montalcino wine is produced in this area, which is also dotted with charming villages and monasteries along the historic "Via Francigena" route that stretches from France to Rome.

With 6 comfortable double rooms and 6 bathrooms, our villa can comfortably accommodate up to 12 people. The ground floor features a spacious living room, a large lounge, and a well-equipped kitchen, all of which open up to a panoramic terrace overlooking a garden adorned with flowers and plants, including a wisteria pergola. (Check out the video on Youtube titled "Il Palazzotto Siena" for a glimpse of our villa).

Immerse yourself in a romantic ambiance as you dine by candlelight on the terrace, surrounded by nature and admiring the breathtaking panorama that Leonardo da Vinci himself cherished. We also have an additional terrace at a higher level, featuring a swimming pool and a sundeck designed with landscaping elements.

Spanning over 42 acres, our property encompasses woodlands and Mediterranean vegetation, serving as a natural park with a green route that preserves a diverse range of flora and fauna.

At "Il Palazzotto," we provide our guests with the expertise of the owner and a dedicated staff to cater to their every need. You can rely on us for information about the surrounding cities, roads, farms, and castles. We take utmost pride in our culinary offerings, allowing you to savor the flavors of the region through our authentic and delicious dishes, such as Tuscan bruschetta, zuppa di farro, tagliatelle ai funghi porcini, fiorentina steak, Pienza pecorino, Montalcino Brunello wine, extra-virgin olive oil from Tuscany, ricciarelli, and panforte.

This ancient house has been meticulously restored and renovated, while still honoring the traditional Tuscan style. The ground floor features a living room and a lounge area equipped with two fireplaces, creating a cozy atmosphere for relaxation. Telephone, fax, and internet connections are available for our guests' convenience. From the ground floor, you can easily access the garden terrace or ascend to the first floor where the six bedrooms are located. The elegant dining room, adorned with antique furniture, boasts a spacious table that comfortably accommodates 14 people.

On the first floor, you will find six generously sized bedrooms, tastefully furnished by the owner with high-quality furniture. Each room offers splendid views, and the corner rooms include private bathrooms with showers, bidets, and modern amenities. All rooms are furnished with double beds, and one room even includes an additional third bed. The two central rooms feature canopy beds, while the other two rooms are equipped with single beds. A separate bathroom with a shower is located down the hall, and a sixth bathroom is available on the ground floor.

Thanks to its central location, "Il Palazzotto" serves as an ideal base for exploring Florence, Siena, and the surrounding areas. In just an hour or an hour and a half, you can easily reach most cities in Tuscany and Umbria, including Assisi and Perugia. Rome is also within reach, located 200 km away from our villa.

Our region is renowned for its rich history and natural beauty. Florence showcases the splendor of the Renaissance, while Siena captivates with its Gothic architecture. The Etruscan and Roman influences add to the cultural richness of our land. Don't miss the chance to visit Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, and Monteriggioni, each offering its own unique charm. Museums, abbeys, monasteries, Romanesque churches, and Roman baths add an extra layer of enchantment to your journey. St. Antimo Abbey in Montalcino with its Gregorian chants, the Renaissance frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli at the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, and the mystical ruins of the Gothic Abbey of St. Galgano are just a few examples of the remarkable places that will complete your exploration of the region. The diverse and captivating landscape of hills, vineyards, olive groves, woods, and fields, with its ever-changing colors throughout the seasons, will leave an indelible imprint on your memory, just as Proust described the involuntary memories that are triggered by true paradises.
